Our Journey
Po's Version
Long before any of this, there was high school. Two kids on opposite sides of the same friend group, close enough to share a social circle but far enough apart that introductions were apparently not on the agenda. Jeanine noticed Po. Po was, shall we say, otherwise occupied, entangled with someone else in that very same group. A classic case of wrong place, right person, wrong time. The universe, it turned out, had other ideas.
Fast forward twenty years. Somehow, through the beautiful chaos of life, they found their way back to each other. And naturally, Po, with all the confidence of a man who has completely rewritten history in his own mind, insists that Jeanine simply waited for him. Patiently. Devotedly. For two decades. That's one version of events.
Jeanine has neither confirmed nor denied this theory. The truth, like Po's self-awareness, may never be fully known. What is clear is that what started with shared laughter and a love for great food has grown into a lifetime of adventures together: from favorite neighborhood spots to family dinner tables to, now, this. The next chapter. And they want you there for it.
Jeanine's Version
Let's be clear about a few things. Jeanine did not wait for anyone. She was busy building a career, living an entire life full of purpose and independence. Po, meanwhile, was out there doing whatever Po does, which apparently included constructing an elaborate fantasy in which he was the main character of someone else's love story.
Did she remember him from high school? Sure. He was hard to miss, loud, confident, and absolutely convinced he was funnier than he actually was. Did she spend twenty years thinking about him? She'd like the record to reflect: absolutely not. She had things to do. Important things. Things that did not involve waiting by a window like a Jane Austen character.
When they reconnected, it wasn't destiny. It was a coincidence they matched on a dating app that Po has since promoted to fate. She knew he looked familiar, but eventually had to ask her friend May, who helpfully remembered that he was nice and once dated her former best friend. Armed with that glowing review, she swiped accordingly. He showed up, made her laugh (she'll admit that much), and somehow talked his way into dinner. Then another. Then a weekend. Then, before she could fully assess the situation, he'd moved in emotionally and brought snacks.
She didn't fall for him because he was smooth. He isn't. She fell for him because underneath all the bravado is someone genuinely kind, impossibly stubborn, and absolutely certain that she is the best thing that ever happened to him. On that last point, fine. He's right.
